Birthday Party at Deanna Rose Farmstead

Today, just Jonathan and Mommy went to a Birthday party at Deanna Rose Farmstead! Daddy had a lot of errands to do and the twins had lots of crawling (yes, Caroline is finally crawling), playing and napping to do. So, our new "to the rescue" babysitter Kathleen came over for a few hours to watch the twins while we partied. AND, it was Safety Day there, so we saw a fire truck, police cars, and a helicopter, which we saw land! SO EXCITING! Lots of great pics, so I apologize if I post too many:

Birthday girl, Scarlett (our neighbor) is at the top.

Elmo party! Those are cupcakes made into Elmo! Great idea!

Red frosting does not stain nearly as bad as blue!!!

Birthday girl and Jonathan say, "Cheese!" Don't you just love her curls!

I'd love to know what they are thinking.

The neighborhood gang discussing balloons: Brendan, Jonathan and Scarlett.

Talking to the goats...and laughing his head off, too!

Outside time

I snapped these yesterday afternoon... we LOVE going out front to play before daddy gets home from work!

Poor worm was really long then ended up in two!
Joseph crawling in the grass...and the drive way...and the street (just kidding!)
Ha ha ha mom, you are too slow! I can just see that same face in the near future running away from me laughing!
Very serious girl about her toys... almost got it...!

Block Party...sort of...

Last weekend our cul-de-sac had a block party. Since it started right at bathtime for the twins we were a little late getting out, then is started to rain, then we ended up taking JOnathan to urgent care because his neck was swollen (long story folk, but he just has a virus). BUT, we did make it out for the Olathe Fire Dept. to come and show us a fire engine!!! He was in awe and studied the lights and equipment!

Bed Head

Caroline woke up from her nap today with the wildest hair, I had to share it!!! I have no clue what the heck she did in her crib to cause it but it must have been wild because her hair was fantastic! Such a sweet girl!!!!

Cover Model

Last Sept. my friend and AMAZING photographer, Amy Martin (http://www.amymartinonline.com/), who has taken all the kids pictures, asked if she could shoot Jonathan for a book cover. She works with Anne Meeker Miller the creator and local author of Baby Sing and Sign. Amy knew Jonathan signed and asked if we could try to get some pictures. Thanks to Amy's marshmallows, he was happy to sign and request "more" numerous times and surprisingly to Amy and myself, the editors picked one of her pictures....if you click on the link below, the book is on the right side and has a tiny picture. If you then click on "FROM AMAZON"link below, you can see a larger picture.

Sunday stroll

Since Joseph and Caroline decided they didn't want to nap much this weekend (shocking for a Patnode baby not wanting to sleep), they spent much of their time in their double stroller. They LOVE to be outside watching their big brother run around and play... and they don't fuss much when they are outside:-) Couldn't resist sharing these photos!

Boys and their BUGS

One of Jonathan's favorite books that we read every night is The Very Quiet Cricket by Eric Carl. On Sunday when Thomas was mowing the lawn, with Jonathan's help of course, I spotted a cricket and we caught it! I first put it in a plastic cup with press and seal wrap over it but he really couldn't see it. I then put it in an empty baby food jar....well, about 10 minutes after those pictures were snapped, he tripped and fell, shattering the glass jar in his hand. No stitches were necessary and no tears were shed except for the lost cricket!

Oh those Twins...

I decided that our house should be called the "PWF"...the Patnode Wrestling Federation. I tried to catch the action the other morning, but it was taking place on the hardwood floors, soI decided I needed to catch falling babies instead of take pictures. The twins have decided they really like eachother and want to "kiss" (or eat) eachothers faces. SO, particularly in the morning when they first see eachother, they grab at eachother open mouthed, "kiss," giggle, cry, then fall...here is some of the action:

Poor Caroline...but I think she started it!

TEETHING:

I am not going to name names (Kati Bernard) but some of you have children that don't even make a peep when their teeth are coming in...we are not so blessed!!!! Both, Caroline and Joseph have two bottom teeth. More are coming in, I am assuming, since they are mouthing everything and pretty miserable at times. I decided to give them those MESSY gerber biter biscuits. They kept them QUIET for about 20 minutes.... but for anyone that has given them to their kids, it is a MISERABLE MESS....here are the results:

Caroline gnawing away:-)

Joseph's mess...by they way it is sticky and cakes on...I think there is still some left in his ears and permanently on the high chair!
